(I was unable to attend this Town Council meeting. This summary is being written after watching the video of the meeting. This has both advantages and disadvantages. I have the ability to watch key parts again, to make sure I heard something correctly. But I miss the 'feel' of the room, which I believe is important and can't be transmitted via video. Normally when I attend the meeting, I do NOT watch video of the events prior to writing the summary - I write it based on my notes and my memory. Because I did not attend, this summary will be shorter and more direct.)
The meeting began with the Mayor recalling the events of 17 years ago on 9/11, when we watched the Towers fall, and asked for a moment of quiet reflection. After the silence, he recalled the conversation he had with Councilman DiEnna back then, and the efforts of Mr DiEnna and others to obtain a piece of the Towers, so we could have a proper memorial in town. Through their efforts, a piece of steel from the Towers has a permanent home on Main Street.
It was also noted that there is a memorial to Leroy Homer at Memorial Field. Mr Homer was a Marlton resident, who was first officer of Flight 93, which went down in Pennsylvania on 9/11.
Next up, Mayor Brown announced that he was withdrawing from the 2018 Mayoral Race and would not be seeking re-election. He cited that he would have professional opportunities presented to him in 2019 which may require moving away from the area, so he didn't feel it was fair to the citizens of Evesham to run again.
The agenda was light this week and therefore the rest of the meeting was quick. You can read the ordinances and resolutions here.
Approval of minutes from prior meetings was passed 5-0.
Ordinance 18-9-2018 was passed 5-0.
Ordinance 19-9-2018 was passed 4-0-1 with Mayor Brown abstaining without comment. This ordinance was regarding a 5 Year PILOT at part of the old Olga's Diner property.
Ordinance 20-10-2018 was passed 5-0. This ordinance is for changes to golf course fees and is set for public hearing on 10/16/2018.
Resolution 295-2018 was passed 5-0, naming Andrew Wilson as an alternate member of the Zoning Board.
The consent agenda was passed 5-0.

- The southern portion of Kettle Run Road is now open. Due to rain delaying work, the northern portion remains closed, but they are hopeful it will open next week. Additional work will need to be done after that, including signage for Black Run, reflective markings, and rumble strips, but the road will be open when those changes occur.
- Harvest Fest is scheduled for 9/29. There will be shuttle buses from Cherokee. (I took a shuttle last year, it was a great way to get to Harvest Fest without having to worry about parking.)
