Retail Updates 10/6/2018 - New Chinese Restaurant, Skechers is Official and Photos from Around Town

Wu's Bistro closed last month, and my last blog mentioned that it would be reopening soon under the name Grace Bistro. A sign on the front door announces that it is currently closed for remodeling, but nothing has been remodeled yet. The link for the coupons I posted last week is no longer live.

Construction has begun at Yoga Revive in Crispin Square. According to their website, they are hoping to open in November.

Also in Crispin Square, Young Minds Toys has closed after 11 years in that location. The owners had contemplated closing earlier in the year, but decided to hold out and try to make it work. Unfortunately it would appear they were unable to do so.

I reported a new mystery tenant at the Plaza 73 Shops in my last post. After speaking with Leor Hemo from Vantage Real Estate Services, I can report that the new tenant will be a Chinese restaurant. They are currently working to get all the necessary permits, and I will hopefully have more to report once that process is completed.

For lack of anywhere else to put this, I found this photo of that same shopping center from back in 2007. Neither Gagan Bistro or Lotus Oriental are there any longer, but I figured I would post the picture anyway.

I've had several people ask me what is going on with the new diner going up next to Chick Fil-A, where Carolla's was. Why was it suddenly in the newspapers this week? Two things happened. First, there was a ground-breaking this week, so construction has finally begun. However, prior to that, Evesham Township uploaded many months worth of meeting minutes from the Planning and Zoning Boards to their website. A newspaper reporter reviewed all the minutes and found several items that were able to be made into an article, one on the new Olga's and one on Sprouts.

However, despite making the news, there really isn't anything new to report on Olga's different than I first reported back in April.

It was reported that Mattress Firm will file for bankruptcy protection and close up to 700 stores. There has not been a list of stores that will be closing, but this may affect Marlton. There are currently two Mattress Firm locations in Marlton, very close to one another.

The first is right at the old circle, in front of where the old Olga's was.

Back in 2016, Mattress Firm acquired Sleepy's. This franchise at the circle used to be a Sleepy's.

There is another Mattress Firm next to Trader Joe's.

This one was once a Sleepy's as well. I'm not sure I understand why they had two stores so close together.

It would appear that the one at the old Marlton Circle will be leaving. There is a FOR LEASE sign up on the property and I found this listing which was posted October 2, 2018.

Skecher's is official. The Famous Footwear sign has come down, the windows have all been papered over and interior contruction has commenced. I don't know yet whether this is a Skecher's Retail or Skecher's Outlet yet.

Sprouts/Burlington Coat Factory
It appears that the construction inside of Burlington Coat Factory is just about complete. There is now a completed wall between where the new Sprouts will be and the old BCF.
