Jackie's Crossing Ribbon Cutting

I had the opportunity to visit and tour Jackie's Crossing today, the 55 unit complex on the corner of Main and Maple, for its ribbon cutting and grand opening.  My visit there was quite pleasant and the apartments look wonderful.

Normally when writing these blogs, I try to include an overhead map showing the property location.  Unfortunately Google Maps hasn't updated their maps of the area in a while, so I have drawn a red square showing the approximately location of the complex.  It is directly behind the shopping center with Starbuck's, Carlo's Bakery and the Gap, directly across the street from the Evesham Township School District Administration building.

The complex consists of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, and a smaller amount of 2 bedroom townhouses.  The townhouses are all on the first floor and have 2 entrances - one from the interior hallways of the building, and one from the outside, on the street.  The townhouses have 3 full baths and come with a garage, while apartment renters can rent a garage for $95/month.  The one perk I know that would excite many are heated floors in all the master bathrooms.  Closet space seemed more than adequate.

Here are some pictures from the tour.

Being a married father of two, the idea of living at Jackie's Crossing is not realistic.  But I realize I am not the target demographic for 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.  What is nice about Evesham is that there are different housing opportunities for every situation and preference - old and new apartments, townhouses, condos, and single family detached housing, all available in every configuration.  Twenty-five year old me is very intrigued by the complex.  When I was in college, I enjoyed walking everywhere: to class, to the grocery store, to restaurants and bars.  I haven't been able to walk to retail since college, and I do miss it.  The idea of being within walking distance to shopping (Gap, Trader Joe's), restaurants (Turning Point, Sal's, Organico's, Starbucks, Ragazzi's),  bars (Marlton Tavern, Zed's) and others (7-11, Carlo's Bakery, Dunkin Donuts, Canal's), with a gym onsite, is quite appealing.

One word of caution, entering and leaving the complex can be a challenge.  If the parking spaces below are occupied, it makes it impossible to see oncoming traffic on Maple.  When entering, at the end of the long driveway there is a blind spot when entering the back parking lot.  I do worry there will be an accident there.

With the grand opening came the ribbon cutting.  There was a short speech by Mitchell Davis, owner and CEO of Davis Enterprises, owner of the complex.  He had his children with him, and noted that the complex was named in honor of his late wife Jacqueline.  There was a short speech by Mayor Brown, noting that this was another piece of the re-development of the Main Street area.  And finally the ribbon cutting.
