A continuing heatwave did not dampen spirits as local residents came to Main Street to watch a quintessential event of small town America - a parade down Main Street. While the day was a few degrees cooler than the two previous days, it was still hot - proof of that was the fact that there were gaps in the crowd lining the roadways, as everyone seemed to congregate under the trees and on covered porches lining the road, hoping the shade would provide relief.
The parade kicked off at 11:30 am as scheduled, and those who watched were treated to sights and sounds a plenty, representing local business, organizations, bands (including Mummers!) and schools. Here are some photos of the event, presented sequentially. .

A large contingent of motorcycles blasted their way down Main Street, revving their engines and honking their horns. Watching little kids look at the motorcycles and react to the noise is priceless - they aren't sure whether to be scared or excited.

Operation Yellow Ribbon was of course in attendance. If you aren't familiar with this wonderful organization and the support they give our troops overseas (and when they return home), you can read about them
here.

I am not sure how much longer the parade continued after this point, but I was unable to stay any longer. A fun time seemed to be had by everyone in attendance, and many floats were handing out and/or throwing candy at all the children watching the event. While the pictures give you an idea of what the parade was about, there's nothing like seeing a parade in person.
I created a five minute video highlight real of all the bands that played, which you can
watch here.
Earlier in the day was the 11th Annual Mayor's Cup 5K Race and 1 mile Fun Run. You can see photos of that event
here.
