For 2019, it looks like part of the Shops at Renaissance will be opening in the first quarter of 2019. While some of the stores opening there will be new, others are local businesses relocating. Evesham Mortgage will be moving to Renaissance, leaving a vacancy in Plaza 70. Gaetano's will be moving there, leaving a vacancy in Allison Shopping Center. I am not sure whether the Dunkin Donuts at Marlton Greene is moving there, or whether the Dunkin at Renaissance will be a new one. (I've heard both scenarios). It will also be getting a new Hair Cuttery and nail salon, and the Children of America day care should open some time in 2019.
Sprouts will hopefully open in 2019, though it looks like not in the first quarter. Same with Mission BBQ. And the rest of the upcoming stores listed above will probably open in 2019.
And my predictions for 2019. I don't have any information, these are merely guesses on my part.
- The former Carrabas will remain unoccupied. This building is set up to be a restaurant and is currently owned by the parent company of Carrabas and Outback Steakhouse (which is still there). They also own Bonefish and Flemings, which we already have in Marlton. Its hard to imagine that they would allow another restaurant to move in and compete with Outback, Flemings and Bonefish.
- The former Bottom Dollar will remain unoccupied. The lease on the Bottom Dollar location was a long-term lease. While I don't know the specifics for this lease, according to the leasing company, the average Bottom Dollar lease has 15 years remaining on it. While Aldi (the current owner) can certainly sublet the site, I don't see it happening. Because it is not on a major highway, it may be difficult to lease this space, especially since Marlton has so much retail that IS on a major highway.
- The former GBoys site WILL be developed and it will be a restaurant. I believe the zoning would allow for a drive thru fast food restaurant. (And while I always see people clamoring for Taco Bell, I just don't see it happening).
- The former Sears Appliance (Marlton Crossing) will remain vacant.
- The former Pet Supplies Plus (Greentree Square) will get a new tenant.
- The former Radio Shack will remain vacant.
- The new Starbucks/Pizza Hut site on Route 70 will be fully leased in 2019
- The parent company of PJ Whelihan's (PJs, Pour House, Treno, Chophouse and Central Taco) still owns a liquor license in Marlton, which they purchased when Casa Coralla went out of business. They have still not announced plans for what to do with it - last I heard they were looking for a good location. Hopefully we will get an announcement in 2019, though I doubt a restaurant will open during 2019.
- On Route 73N, there is property in front of the Indian Cultural Center available for retail development. Since the State Department of Transportation has agreed to put a light at 73 and Sunbird Drive for the new Royal Farms, this would make entering or leaving this site much easier, so an announcement concerning development there will occur in 2019. Possibly even for the aforementioned PJs.
