Barclay Chase Construction Update 3/23/2019

Barclay Chase is a planned apartment complex between Route 70 and Evesboro-Medford Road near the Medford border that was first presented at the Evesham Town Council back in May of 2015.  The Grand Opening was held in 2018.  When completed, it will contain 264 apartments.

The right side of the above plan has been completed and buildings 1000 and 2000 are currently leasing.  A closeup is below.

Buildings 1000 (including Retail), 2000 and clubhouse are all completed

On the day I went, the basin to the right was dry (despite it having rained recently) and trees have been planted in it.  The dog park is actually bigger that I would have expected and is quite nice, equipped with a bag dispenser much like the dog park at the municipal center.  The 1000 building has 6,000 square feet of retail on the ground floor, though none of it has been leased yet.

Just past the dog park the road is shut to traffic.

One of the things I was curious about was when/whether construction would continue.  I assumed that the other buildings would only be built if the first two had a high occupancy rate.  Whether that assumption is correct or not, it would appear that buildings 3000 and 4000 are currently in the initial stages of construction.

The photo above was taken at the entrance to the neighborhood from Evesboro-Medford Road.  The new road is named Barclay Boulevard.  The building on the left is the municipal transfer station.  The two cinderblock structures to the right are the fireproof stairwells to building 4000.  The two structures to the left are the fireproof stairwells to building 3000.  I could not see any signs of buildings 5000, 6000 or 7000.

When completed, buildings 3000 and 4000 will look like this

Back in April of 2018, the developer appeared at the Planning Board for permission to add a 10 foot fence around the municipal transfer station.  It wasn't originally requested as there was no apparent need, but during construction, as trees were removed, the need became apparent.   I believe it was discussed that when the transfer station land is eventually sold and the building removed, the 10 foot fence would be removed as well.
