Evesham Township School District Meeting of 8/17/2017

(9/24/2017 - This was originally posted directly on Facebook on August 18, 2017.  I am reposting here for posterity.)

ETSD Meeting of 8/18/17
Didn't seem to be too much happening at the meeting. There was much discussion about payment of submitted expenses by district employees, the upgrade of certain portions of the curriculum (with a lengthy presentation and alot of followup questions for Ms Magulick), the self-assessment for anti-bullying.
There has not been a CO issued for YALE at Evans yet, but word came at the meeting that YALE submitted the paperwork on 8/18/17. I believe it was Mr Student who made the statement that there didn't seem to be any reason why a CO wouldn't be issued.
The subject of allowing the ETSD broker to try to negotiate a lease for the rest of Evans was approved. Some discussion ensued regarding:
1) Should we see if we want to move the Admin building to Evans first? Mr Mehigan asked if we really want to get locked into another 5 year lease thereby preventing Admin from moving there? If there is a 5 year lease, what does the termination clause look like? Mr Scavelli stated if we don't want a 5 year lease, we don't have to sign a contract. This is just the first step to gauge interest.
2) We only got one bid through our current broker, should be find another broker? (We have a contract apparently and cannot)
There were about 15-20 members of the public and no public comment or questions.

Enrollment Update:
The superintendent gave an update on enrollment.
On the last day of school, 6/21/17, there were 4,446 children enrolled.
As of 8/16/17, there were 4,373 students enrolled, 73 students fewer than at the end of the year.
The last projection (from February 23, 2017) for the 2017-2018 school year was 4,397. So current enrollment is 24 students less than projected.
Mr Scavelli stated that there will probably be a slight fluctuation in the enrolled number prior to the school year as children who just moved to the district are enrolled, but their projections seemed to be accurate.
K-5 class size average is 18.4. 6-8 is 25.
There was no breakdown regarding enrollment in each school, and there were no questions from the public or board regarding enrollment.
