Very Late March 2018 Retail Update - Target, Frutta Bowls, Max Challenge, Greene Street and more

With Chickie and Pete's, honeygrow and Shake Shack all opening recently, this may feel a little anti-climatic.  But there is still a lot of stuff going on about town.  Since I had the day off from work Friday and a few errands to run, I was able to hit a few of the locations where changes are happening.

Marlton Crossing
This shopping center has a lot going on.  With Duck Donuts opening last month and Chickie and Pete's this week, even more changes are on the horizon.  I documented last week that Sprouts Farmer's Market will be coming in future months.  To make room for it, the Burlington Coat Factory will be shrinking, and construction inside of BCF has begun.

The doors and wall are new
I'm not sure which blue line is the new wall of the store, but I think its the one on the right.

In addition, store 3F from the above map is also under construction.  The space has been empty since Spaghetti House left several years ago.

The future home of Max Challenge

The Max Challenge, a gym, will be opening there.  They already have a website.

Greene Street, a mid to high end consignment shop, is also coming to the center in April at the former Carter's location.  I posted this 'photo' a few days ago and while it came directly from greenestreet.com, it is a photoshop.

Here is how the shop actually looks today.

Target and Starbucks
The remodel of the Target continues.  A few months ago, they brought dozens and dozens of shipping containers into the parking lot to do a remodel.  Its hard to tell what has been done, but I think it has all new floors and a lot of stuff has moved around.  The back corners are configured differently, facing you at an angle.  They are currently working on the customer service area.  Customer service has temporarily been moved.

And the front of the store is no longer brick/stone.
How Target used to look

It is now brown fake wood paneling. At least I hope its brown - I am colorblind (color-deficient), so it could be red, which would make more sense, but I'm pretty sure its brown.

The Starbucks has opened.

The Shops at Borders/Joann's
I think most people know by now that the entire shopping center was purchased by Raymour and Flanigan.  The Joann Fabric closed on Wednesday March 28th.  I spoke with a woman who worked there and was manning the door today, to keep people out.  She mentioned that all the workers were given jobs in other stores, so that's good news.  She also mentioned that a Raymour and Flanigan Outlet Store would be going in, which I had heard previously as well.

There are still a few stores open in the shopping center, a Jay Roberts Jeweler, Brite Eyes and the Hair Cuttery.  The Tranquility Salon closed its doors on March 13th, moving up the road to 154 Route 73 in Voorhees.

The Promenade - Frutta Bowls and Soft Surroundings opening soon!
Frutta Bowl will be opening at the Promenade on April 7th.  Frutta Bowls serves.... well, fruit bowls.  And smoothies.  The pictures I have seen online look very appealing and inviting.  They are in the location that Cold Stone Creamery used to be, next to Sleep Number.
Frutta Bowls opens next weekend

Soft Surroundings will be opening on April 6th.  They sell clothing, shoes, jewelry, bedding and home goods.  They have 60 locations throughout the country, and Marlton is their first South Jersey store.

Out with Papa John's, in with Starbucks
While it took more than 18 months to start this project after it was announced, it is proceeding rapidly.  The two buildings (one containing Papa Johns and DeBug It, and the other a Sunoco station) were both demolished extremely quickly.  The debris was all removed and right now the concrete is being broken up.  We'll have another Starbucks before you know it.

Evesham Mortgage announced their intention to move to Renaissance Square by summer 2018..

Evesham Mortgage is in the red oval, the 2nd story of a building to be built shortly

An 'Available' sign is up at their current location.

And finally, new honeygrow and Shake Shack signs were added yesterday.
