8/21/2018 - Firstrust Bank and Famous Footwear Closing, Skechers Coming to Town, Photos from Around Town

Firstrust Bank has applied to close its Marlton location next to the AMC movie theater.  This location was previously approved to be demolished and turned into a Royal Farms, but those plans are currently tied up in litigation.  The owners of the property had previously been non-renewing leases, so Firstrust was looking for new locations.  It would appear they will be leaving for Cherry Hill to 108 East Marlton Pike (Route 70), which was previously home to Citibank.  A closing date has not yet been announced.

Meetinghouse Square
I have been posting periodic pictures of the refacing of Meetinghouse Square.  As of this week, I think it is now possible to envision how the completed product will look.  The facade over Marcello's looks close to completion, and the added touch of bricks around the metal pillars is a very nice touch!

Famous Footwear and Skechers

Late last week, Famous Footwear put signs up that it is closing its Marlton location at Willow Ridge Plaza.  I don't believe any other locations will be closing, and they have directed their customers to the location at the Cherry Hill Mall.

In a possibly related development, I noted last month that Skechers was looking to hire a store manager for a new Marlton store.  The job posting is still active online.  While I cannot 100% confirm it, I have it on good authority they will be moving into the Famous Footwear store once it is empty.

Shops at Borders
Lots of activity at the former Shops at Borders.

A new Hair Cuttery sign has been added in The Shops at Borders, making it look like there are two of them within a few feet.  They will be moving across the parking lot shortly, to make room for a Raymour and Flanigan Outlet Center.

While work has been done to the outside of the future home of Children of America (removing the drive thru and adding windows), the inside hasn't really changed
