Its been a month since I published a blog of the retail changes in town. I've been doing more frequent updates on Facebook as individual changes happen, so this post is a collection of all the changes that have gone on over the past month, since my last post of 7/7/2019.
Gud2Go Food Store has opened on Route 70 at the old Radio Shack. The owners used to run the Valero Food Store on the corner of Route 70 and Cropwell Road, until it was demolished a couple months ago to make way for a Chase Bank.
The store contains a TD Bank ATM and a propane tank exchange, in addition to the normal stuff you would expect at a convenience store. While the shelves are not fully stocked today, they expect to get the rest of their merchandise this weekend. Good luck on the new venture! (I would like to point out that at the end of 2018, I made a bunch of predictions for 2019 retail in Evesham and one of those was that the Radio Shack building would remain unoccupied for 2019. I am happy to be wrong.)
Nailed It DIY opened in Crispin Square on July 25. As per their flier, "join us for the ultimate DIY experience. We will guide you step by step in creating a beautiful piece for your home that is uniquely yours. We provide all materials and instruction."
In addition to open studio time, they are available for birthday parties, team building and corporate events.

After the considerable work that had been done in the parking lot of Marlton Crossing in the winter and spring, the entire complex (except for Sprouts) is now being refaced. All stores remain open during the work.

In addition, just to the left of Sprouts, a 'living wall' has been installed. There is a small garden below it. The plantings will grow upwards and latch on to the wall until the entire structure is covered.

Woodloft Furniture has closed. They had been in Marlton since 1992, first at the Galleria at Marlton, then on Route 70 next to Walmart since the early 2000s. The building is for sale.
State Farm has signed two leases in Marlton. In Crispin Square, State Farm Agent Kash Bulsara is opening an office next to Revive Yoga.

In addition, State Farm Agent Chris Johnson has signed a lease at Barclay Chase. His current office is on Maple Avenue near CVS. The left side of the first floor at Barclay Chase has 3 retail storefronts. I don't know which one they have signed a lease for.

While I hate speculating.... The storefront next to Skechers in Willow Ridge Plaza has been vacant for a couple of years now. When I drove by recently, I noticed this sign in front of the plaza:
What struck me as odd was that I know the empty storefront is only 12,000 square feet. So why does the sign say "12000 - 17000 square feet"?
According to the property management website, only one storefront is currently available.
But an older website for the leasing company shows the square footage of all the stores. The empty storefront is 12,000 square feet, as is the Skechers (back then Famous Footwear) next door. Curiously though, the Lane Bryant is 4800.

Adding the empty 12,000 square foot storefront (#6) to the 4,800 gives you 16,800. Not quite 17,000, but close. The parent company of Lane Bryant has had financial difficulties of late. They also own Dress Barn, which announced in July it was closing all 650 stores. If I learn anything new, I'll pass it on.

Firstrust Bank is gone. Royal Farms is on the way next to Marlton 8. |
|
Construction begins at Cropwell and 70 of new Chase Bank |
|
Charming Charlie liquidation continues. Store will be closed by 8/31. |
|
Tunes at Greentree Square closed on July 28 |
|
Dunkin at Renaissance Square opened on August 1 |
|
Clean Space Zen, a residential and commericial cleaning company, has opened an office on Old Marlton Pike |
|
Mission BBQ opens August 19th. |
And the rest
- Andale at the View at Marlton closed on July 20, after only 18 months in business.
- Evesham Mortgage moved into their new office at Renaissance Square. The old office at Plaza 70 is available for lease
- Still no firm opening date on Olga's
